Career Guidance
All students participate in Career Guidance classes in Transition Year, Fifth Year and Sixth Year. Talks from guest speakers and opportunities for college visits are made available to students. From 2019/ 2020, all first years will have a weekly Guidance class.
Our Fourth Years undertake an individual career research project where they use the appropriate computer-based resources to prepare a summary of their research findings. Our Career Guidance Teacher, Ms O Grady will also meet with students on an individual basis to provide support in areas such as careers research and college application.
Every Sixth Year student will have dedicated appointments to plan for their future third level courses (Further and Higher education options) / career path with appropriate follow up.
Senior students are instructed in the following: Goal setting, Time management / Study schedule, how to study / Note taking skills, Exam technique, Organisation and stress management.
The Career Guidance Counsellor works closely with the Pastoral Care team. The school arranges workshops according to student needs.
In addition, senior classes are given the opportunity to attend college open days and career exhibitions.
