As part of their International Woman’s Day activities recently, the Technological and Higher Education Association (THEA) at the Institute of Technology, Tralee were profiling women in Third Level Education. They were delighted to have their Head of Research, Dr. Siobhán MacSweeney included in the very impressive line up of women who lead in higher education. Siobhán is a past pupil of Scoil Mhuire and we were are delighted to hear such news.

Dr Siobhán Mac Sweeney, Head of Research and Technology Transfer, IT Tralee

Siobhán received her degree in Chemistry from University College Cork and completed her PhD in Chemical Process Engineering at Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh. She has over 20 years’ experience working on national and international projects in both the pharmaceutical industry and in academia. Her experience includes research and development, chemical process support, academic-industry collaborations, leading technology transfer and IP management, managing the research support office and the development of research and innovation strategy. Siobhán is currently responsible for the management of all academic and commercial research activities at IT Tralee.
